Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a holistic treatment method rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and Japanese healing practices. It is a gentle and deeply relaxing therapy in which the body is treated through light touch, applied over clothing. Shiatsu combines elements of classical massage and physiotherapy with relaxation techniques and the principles of Chinese medicine’s understanding of the human body.

During a two-hour session, your body is given the opportunity to slow down and recover. The touch is soft yet effective, and the treatment progresses at your body’s own pace, without any sense of hurry. For many, shiatsu is above all a profoundly relaxing experience, where the strain of everyday life gradually melts away.

At Retkipaikka, shiatsu is performed in a traditional style—on a floor-level mat and over clothing. This makes it an excellent option for those who, for any reason, prefer to avoid direct skin contact during massage. The session can also be carried out entirely in silence, and often the experience is enhanced when the client simply allows themselves to relax and receive the calming effect of touch.
